Admission Requirements

For the affordable and complete hands-on hair styling and cosmetology education, come to CJ Hair School! We have everything that you need to become an expert in the field of hair styling and cosmetology. We can help you choose which programs are right for you and answer any questions you may have.

CJ Hair School requires each applicant for admission into one of its programs to meet the eligibility requirements and complete the steps below.

  • Be a high school graduate or possess a General Education Development (GED) or another equivalency document.*
    • During the admissions process, evidence of high school graduation must be presented. Acceptable evidence includes a certified copy of the original high school diploma, a copy of a high school transcript indicating the date of high school graduation, a copy of a DD214 military record indicating the applicant is a high school graduate or equivalent, a GED certificate or official notification that a GED has been earned. 
    • If the high school diploma was earned outside of the US, it must be evaluated for US equivalency. The potential student is responsible for paying the cost of the evaluation. The student may use any reputable evaluation service. Many options can be found on the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) website. CJ Hair School recommends The Evaluation Company
  • The applicant must be 18 years of age; OR
    • If under 18 years of age at the time of admission, the applicant must have both a HS School Diploma or the equivalent, and a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
  • Prospective students are required to interview with school personnel to discuss their educational goals, career goals, and life circumstances to ensure that CJ Hair School is a good fit. CJ Hair School provides access to the Student Catalog during the interview process, as well as an overview of the expectations for students. The staff member can answer questions at any time regarding school policies, the curriculum, requirements for licensure, employment outlook, and anything else needed for the applicant to make a decision on moving forward in the process.
  • Complete the application form. An application fee of $100 is required with the application. The application fee can be paid in the form of cash, check, money order, or credit card. 
  • The applicant must provide a valid unexpired state or federal-issued photo ID. 

Enrollment Requirements

An applicant may enroll in the programs after the successful completion of the following criteria:

  • Meet all admission requirements.
  • Sign a contract/enrollment agreement with the school.
  • Obtain a class start date.

*All requirements must be met prior to beginning class.
